Winona Bell Thompson

     Winona Bell Thompson died April 11, 2023, in Lexington, Oklahoma at the age of 89 years 10 months 10 days.  Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 15, 2023, at Wadley’s Funeral Chapel.  Interment will follow at Lexington Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.  

    Winona was born June 1, 1933, in Cloud Chief, Oklahoma to Johnny and Lucille (Bryen) Ross.  Her family made their home in Lexington, Oklahoma when Winona was very young.  She met Fines “Pete” Thompson at the Purcell Station while he was working for the railroad.  They were united in marriage on April 24, 1954, and were together for 67 years before Pete’s passing in 2022.  They made their home in Lexington in 1968, when Fines went to work for Jacobson Concrete.  Winona enjoyed sewing, gardening, baking, taking care of her family, keeping everyone up to date on the family gossip, watching soap operas, and WWE wrestling.

    She is preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Lucille Ross; her husband, Fines “Pete” Thompson; her daughter, Linda Kay Thompson; her great grandson, Owen Thompson; her brothers, Alvin Ross, Willis Ross, Cecil Ross, Donald Ross, Edward Ross; her sisters, Blanche Cobb, Pauline Sperry, and Alice White.  Survivors include her son, David Thompson and fiancé, Teresa Sellers of Norman; her daughter, Patsy Christian and husband, Randy of Noble; her son, Terry Thompson and wife, Debbie of Norman; her 13 grandchildren, Jeffery Teel, Michelle Teel, Timothy Speck (Christine), Christopher Thompson (Rhonda), Adam Thompson (Natalie), Barry Thompson (Ricki), Parker Thompson (Sacia), Patrick Thompson (Lauren), Randall Christian, Brandon Christian (Ashley), Joel Christian (Hali), Jamie Thompson, Ryan Dunn (Morgan); her 25 great grandchildren; her 3 great-great grandchildren; her siblings, Wanda Louise Brown of Oklahoma City, Gary Ross of Oklahoma City; and numerous other relatives and friends.
