Wanda Louise Ford died May 22, 2023, in Purcell, Oklahoma at the age 94 years 6 months 11 days. Graveside Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Saturday, May 27, 2023, at the Mt. Olive Cemetery in Big Springs, Texas.
Wanda, the youngest of seven children, was born November 11, 1928, in Big Springs, Texas, to Archie E. and Fannie Mae (McGuirt) Ford. She was raised and attended school in Big Springs, graduating around 1946. After graduating, Wanda attended Southwestern Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. She also worked at Pangburn Candy Factory, and her favorite perk was being able to eat as much candy as she wanted. Wanda returned to Big Spring, working for the VA as a dental assistant for over 20 years. She was dedicated to spreading the Word of the Lord, attending church regularly, and was a prayer warrior for her family and friends. Wanda loved being with her family and was up for anything as long as the family was involved. She was active and regularly exercised well into her 80's and had a morning exercise routine she followed for years. Wanda was quiet and reserved, yet playful. She loved spoiling her dachshunds and even got them happy meals from time to time. Although Wanda never had children of her own, a special bond formed with her niece Monica who she helped raise. Wanda was always nurturing, comforting, and giving. Her entire family lovingly referred to her as Nana.
Wanda is preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Fannie Ford; her siblings, Archie F. Ford, Alpha Reid, Jerry Ford, Happy Murphree, Elsie Woods and Theda Kyle. Survivors include her niece/daughter, Monica Deaver and husband, Dennis Hilburn, Kaela Donbavand and husband, Peter and their daughter, Blair, Kaci Smith and her children, Addy, Audrey and Asher, Kelsey Odell and her children, Stetson and Tinley; and numerous other relatives and friends.
