Susan Zelane Fisher

October 19, 1942 — September 6, 2024

Wayne, Oklahoma

Susan Zelane Fisher died September 6, 2024, at home surrounded by her family at the age of 81 years 10 months 18 days. Graveside services are scheduled for 3:00 PM, Saturday, September 7, 2024, at the Hillside Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.

Susan was born October 19, 1942, in Inglewood, CA to Joseph Carl and Ruby (Estep) Little, who were working there on behalf of the WWII war effort. Susan was a lifelong resident of Wayne, a 12 year graduate of Wayne High School and a descendant of many Oklahoma settlers. Susan married Henry Clayton Fisher, Jr. on August 26, 1960, together they shared 64 years of adventure and lived a productive, rewarding life, most of which was spent on their farm south of Wayne. She was a dedicated wife, supporting Clayton in his many endeavors and accompanying him on extensive travels from Alaska to Central America. In an old '65 Ford Pickup, pulling a 16' Prowler camping trailer, they explored from Inuvik, north of the Arctic Circle, down the west coast of the US, through Central America to the Panama Canal. Susan was navigator on an adventure to Labrador in eastern Canada where they sought “air that had never been breathed before” and thru the everglades of Florida. Together they raised three children - Anita, David and Amy. Susan was a fantastic, loving mother always caring for her family, putting their needs above her own. Besides caring for her family and farming with Clayton, she loved keeping in touch with friends near and far, loving her cats and dogs, collecting souvenirs and memorabilia and hand quilting. Susan was wonderfully organized and hosted all the family holiday meals and special events.

Susan sweetly followed Jesus to a joyous reunion with family and friends gone before including her parents, Joseph and Ruby Little; and her son, David Bryan Fisher. She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Henry Clayton Fisher; her daughter, Anita Helms and husband, Hue of Goodwell; her daughter, Amy Sharp and husband, Dan of Wayne; her brother, Joseph Steven Little of Wayne; her sisters-in-law, Diane Barrett of Ardmore, and Susan Curry of Woodinville, WA; her grandchildren, Ben Helms of Guymon, Kayla Helms of Goodwell, Rachel Scott and husband, Dennis of Goodwell, Austin Fisher of Sand Springs, Savannah Fisher of Sand Springs, Taylor, Casey and Kassidy Sharp of Blanchard; as well as 6 great-grandchildren, and many cousins from the Little and Estep sides of her family.

To Life Springs Hospice and caregiver Raenee Dunn.     A simple thank you seems so inadequate to express our gratitude for your loving care and compassion shown to Susan and her entire family.  You are truly angels that walk among us.
