Sharon Kay Green died peacefully January 29, 2025, in Purcell at the age of 89 years 1 months 16 days. Visitation is scheduled from 6-8pm, on Friday, January 31, 2025, at Wadley’s Funeral Chapel. A private family burial will take place at a later date, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
Sharon was born December 13, 1935, in Purcell, Oklahoma to James Neal and Clara Lee (Williams) Cypert. She was raised in the close-knit community of Purcell, where she graduated from Purcell High School in 1953, a testament to her dedication and perseverance. On March 15, 1955, Sharon embarked on a beautiful journey of love and partnership when she married Otho Fred Green. Together, they built a warm and nurturing home in Purcell, where they lovingly raised their family. Throughout her life, Sharon's commitment to her family remained unwavering. She embraced her role as a caregiver, contributing to her community through her work at the local public library, where she also took pride in housekeeping. A woman of many passions, Sharon found joy in reading, baking, and supporting her beloved OU Sooners football team. Her vibrant spirit was complemented by her deep faith as a member of the Memorial Assembly of God in Purcell. Sharon had a gift for connection; she cherished conversations with her friends and family, always radiating warmth and joy. Above all, it was the time spent with her family that filled her heart with happiness, leaving a legacy of love that will forever resonate within the hearts of those who knew her.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents, James and Clara Cypert; her husband of 42 years, Otho Green; her son-in-law, Ray Pounds; her granddaughter, Amanda Jayne Green; her sister, Sue Schrader and husband, Albert; and nephew, Steve Schrader. Survivors include her daughter, Nealyn Lee and husband, Gordon; daughter, Lisa Pounds; daughter, Tonya Green; son, Fred Green and wife, Jayne; brother, Buddy Cypert and wife, Glenda; 22 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.
