Rosemary Ramsey

January 27, 1930 — February 25, 2022

Rosemary Twitty Ramsey passed away February 25, 2022, at the age of 92 years 29 days.  Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Tuesday, March 1, 2022, at Wadley’s Funeral Chapel.  The family will receive visitors at 1:00 PM, before services.  Interment will follow at Lexington Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.

Rosemary was born January 27, 1930, in Ennis, Texas to M.M. and Melba (Upshaw) Twitty.  She was raised in Ennis, graduating from Ennis High School in 1947.  Rosemary received a bachelor’s degree from Baylor University in 1951, and a master’s degree in Education from Northeastern State University, along with a certification in Education Diagnostics.  Ms. Ramsey served students through a career in public education for 30 years and was an education in the Ennis Independent School District before retiring in 1995.  Rosemary was married to Vernon Bradley for 27 years, and they raised six children together.  Later, she was reunited with a childhood friend, Nicholas Ramsey, with whom she fell in love and married in 1995.  They were happily married until his death in 1999.  She was a loving mother to six children, grandmother of twelve grandchildren, and a great-grandmother to fifteen great-grandchildren.  One of Rosemary’s many admirable qualities was her sharp wit and sarcastic humor.  Ever ready for a mental challenge of a puzzle, she could often be found working through puzzles as she watched her favorite college football team, the Baylor Bears, of course!  Most often, a well-cared for feline graced her lap as she did so.  Mema was a traveler and reflections of her adventures adorned various glass shelves throughout her home in the form of her lighthouse collection.  As her tall grandfather clock chimed away, she would often put pen to paper and write reflections, stories and poetry in the most eloquent way.  A bowl of Braum’s ice cream often fueled her late-night creative pursuits, and many of her grandchildren ended up with homemade patches on solid-colored sweatshirts in the 80's.  Always learning, Rosemary was frequently the first one in the family to embrace new technologies and computer programs.  Rosemary accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior as a young girl, and her love for Christ could be seen through the way she loved others.  Her children have fond memories of the prayers she shared with them, and the natural way that she shared her faith.  Our family is mourning her loss, but also celebrating her new eternal journey with our God.

Rosemary is preceded in death by her parents, M.M and Melba Twitty; her husband, Nicholas Ramsey; her grandson, Benjamin Bradley; and her brothers, Marcus Twitty and Eddie Twitty.  Survivors include her children, Connie Bradley of Tucson, AZ, Stephen Bradley and wife, Diane of Lexington, OK, Carole McClure and husband, Ronald of Athens, TX, Mark Brandley of Oklahoma City, Robert “Paul” Bradley and wife, Lori of Lexington, OK, and Phillip Bradley and wife, Starla of Norman, OK; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
