Rita Margaret Giroux passed away Saturday, February 11, 2023, in Noble, Oklahoma at the age of 88 years 22 days. Rosary services are scheduled for 7:00 PM, Friday, February 17, 2023, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 2:00 PM, Saturday, February 18, 2023, at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Lexington, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
Rita was born January 20, 1935, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Fred and Margaret (Wenke) Schwarz. She grew up in Braman, Oklahoma graduating from Braman in 1953. Rita continued her education at the Business College in Wichita, Kansas. She married Alfred Giroux on June 13, 1964, in Oklahoma City. Rita worked in Medical Records at Mercy Hospital until she went into labor at work in 1965 with her daughter, Gerry. Around 1967 the family relocated to Purcell. Rita worked for Ruby’s Inn and Restaurant in Purcell as a cashier and waitress for 37 ½ years, before retiring. She also volunteered every Tuesday at Purcell Municipal Hospital in the ladies auxiliary. Rita enjoyed watching cooking shows, sewing and embroidery. She loved making tea towels for all her family. Rita loved her family and spending time with her late husband, Alfred. She was a member of the Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church for many years.
Rita is preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Margaret Schwarz; her husband of 58 years, Alfred Giroux; her daughter, Rose Kalinski; her siblings, Gilbert Schwarz, Mary Michael Schwarz, Geraldine Schwarz, Bernadine Lynch and Lorraine Stewart. Survivors her daughter, Gerry Bugg and husband, Mike; her son, Charles Giroux; her son, John Giroux and wife, Jodi; her son-in-law, Chris Kalinski; her seven grandchildren, Katie Giroux-Gourley and husband, Keith, Jessica Giroux and husband, Sebastion Holcomb, Nathan Bugg and wife, Stephanie, Sarah Bugg, Jason Giroux, Gavin Kalinski, Mathew Kalinski; her great granddaughter, Ruth Emerson Bugg; her sister, Teresa Schachle; and many other relatives and friends.
