Marlyn Lee Bowen Randall died peacefully, surrounded by his family, February 14, 2025, at the age of 83 years 11 days. Funeral Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, February 21, 2025, at the Wadley’s Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Lexington Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
Marlyn was born February 3, 1942, in Austin, Texas, to Harry Randall and Louise Bowen. Raised in Llano, Texas, Marlyn's spirit was shaped by the values of hard work and dedication that were intrinsic to his upbringing. Marlyn answered the call of duty with honor and bravery, enlisting in the United States Army on September 30, 1965. He served with distinction until his honorable discharge on September 27, 1968, earning commendations that included the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the esteemed Combat Infantry Badge. His commitment to his country exemplified the true meaning of service. After transitioning to civilian life, Marlyn dedicated many years to his craft as a carpenter and handyman, showcasing his remarkable skills and resourcefulness. On August 12, 1981, he celebrated a beautiful union with Florence Smith, marking the beginning of many cherished memories together in Possum Kingdom, Texas, before moving to Oklahoma. Marlyn had a zest for life, relishing moments spent fishing, tinkering with his 1966 Plymouth Sport Fury, racing hotrods, and enjoying the serenity of being out on the water. However, above all, it was the time spent with his family that brought him the greatest joy. He was known as Pops, or old man, and his love and devotion to his loved ones will be fondly remembered and cherished.
Marlyn is preceded in death by his parents, Harry Randall, Louise Bowen, and Babe Bowen; his brother, Willie Bowen; and his sister, Iwilda. Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Florence Randall; his 4 children, Misty Bowen, Marlon Lee Fry and wife, Amber, Douglas Randall and partner, Jamie Avey, Kristen Randall and partner, Jeremiah Cox; his 11 grandchildren; his 4 great grandchildren; his brothers, Dean Bowen and Bud Bowen; his sister-in-law, Edna Bowen; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
