Kenneth Doyle Thomas

Kenneth Doyle Thomas died February 26, 2023, in Owasso, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years 5 months 11 days.  Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 PM, Friday, March 3, 2023, at Fairview Maguire Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.  

    Kenneth was born September 15, 1931, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Roy and Lucy (Frisby) Thomas.  He was raised in Oklahoma City, graduating from Captiol Hill High School in 1949. Kenneth continued his education at the Oklahoma Baptist University and Southwestern Theological Seminary, earning his Bachelors in Speech and Language, as well as his Bdiv in Theology.  On January 14, 1956, Kenneth married Ruth Nelson in Oklahoma City.  He worked for American Airlines as an Programmer until his retirement in 2001.  Kenneth enjoyed history, Western Americana, travel, collies, horses, book collecting and classic movies.  He and Ruth loved to travel and collect books, rocks and small memorabilia.  Kenneth loved to learn and made lists of his books and movies to include historical information about them.  He loved home, Ruth, his family and his grandchildren. 

    Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Lucy Thomas; his son, Kenneth “Kenny” D. Thomas II; his sisters, Nadine, Norma and Carolyn; and his wife of 65 years, Ruth (Nelson) Thomas. Survivors include his daughter, Kerry Ruth Pittman of Owasso; his granddaughter, Rachel Darline Pittman of Owasso; his grandson, Toby Dwayne Thomas and wife, Kayci of Norman; his daughter-in-law, Karie Thomas of Edmond; his great grandson, Detrick Thomas of Norman; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
