     John Wayne Mitchell died April 13, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 60 years 6 months 4 days.  Graveside services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at the Hillside Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.  

    John was born October 9, 1963, in Indianapolis, Indiana, and raised in California by his parents John F. and Wynona Mitchell, he embraced life with a profound sense of adventure and a warm heart.  On November 13, 1993, John embarked on a new chapter of his journey as he joined hands in marriage with Rosemary Lordan. Together, they established their home in Oklahoma in 1997, where they nurtured their love and shared countless cherished moments. John's spirit found solace in the simple pleasures of life - from practicing martial arts to fishing and swimming. His love for the outdoors was epitomized by his fondness of wolves and his adventures in spelunking, often seeking refuge as a cave dweller amidst nature's wonders.  A skilled welder by trade, John dedicated many years of his life to his craft with passion and diligence. His compassion extended not only to his work but also to the creatures of the earth, particularly his beloved dogs whom he cherished dearly.  Known for his gregarious nature, John effortlessly befriended every stranger he met with a genuine warmth that emanated from his being. However, his true joy blossomed in the presence of family, relishing every moment spent together with an unwavering devotion that knew no bounds.

    John is preceded in death by his mother, Wynona Mitchell. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary; his father, John F. Mitchell and wife, Kathy; his son, John Louis Mitchell; his daughters, Rebecca Mitchell, Darleen Benedict and husband, John, Paula Waller and fiancé, Don Damrill; his grandchildren, Jasmine, Ashley, Paisley, Neveah, Jay, Bronson, Robert; his great grandchildren, Xander, Jaylen, Elijah, and Natalie Rose on the way; his siblings, Pam and Dale, Veronica, Susan, Raymond, Daniel, David; his nieces and nephews, Karrie, Jessica, Bryan, and Brandon; his close friend and brother, Rob White;  and numerous other relatives and friends.
