Jennie Lee Ross

October 17, 1949 — October 30, 2024

Norman, OK

Jennie Lee Ross died October 30, 2024, in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 75 years 13 days. Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM, Monday, November 4, 2024, at Wadley’s Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.

Jennie was born October 17, 1949, in Wynnewood, Oklahoma to Nicholas and Margaret (Lehman) Akerman. Jennie’s journey began in Central Oklahoma, where she was lovingly raised and educated in Lexington. On September 30, 1967, Jennie united her life with Franklin Edward "Ed" Ross in a joyful ceremony in Purcell, Oklahoma. Together, they forged a beautiful life and celebrated 45 years of deep love and partnership prior to Ed's passing in 2013. Jennie epitomized resilience and dedication, often juggling two or three jobs to provide for her family. Her extensive career in healthcare, particularly in dietary services, reflected her compassionate nature and unwavering commitment to the well-being of others. A true nurturer at heart, Jennie found immense joy in gardening, tending to her beloved flowers and an array of vegetables, with tomatoes being her pride. Her culinary talents were unmatched; her home was a sanctuary for loved ones, where no one ever left hungry. Jennie delighted in preserving each harvest through canning, and she cherished leisurely afternoons playing games such as Wahoo and Rummy, surrounded by family and friends. After retiring in 2014, Jennie embraced life with renewed vigor, embarking on countless adventures that allowed her spirit to flourish. Her travels, often undertaken with her sister Lou and accompanied by her other sister Rosa Mary and niece Lou Ann, were filled with laughter and exploration, as they journeyed together on bus tours and road trips. To her family, Jennie was always a source of love and inspiration, and she cherished every moment spent with them. Jennie's legacy of selflessness, warmth, and love will forever reside in the hearts of those she touched.

Jennie is preceded in death by her parents, Nicholas and Margaret Akerman; her husband of 45 years, Ed Ross; her son, Scott Bradley Ross; and her brothers, George Akerman, James Akerman, and Don Akerman. Survivors include her sons, Edward Ross, John Ross and wife, Penny; her daughter, Pamela Bode and husband, John; her grandchildren, Matthew Ross, Chelsea Ross, Anthony (Tony) Lardomita and wife, Kayla, Ashley Bode, Zackery Bode, Travis Bode, Nathan Campbell, Landon Campbell; her siblings, Rosa Mary Edgar, Lou Hooper, Ben Akerman, Dale Akerman, Billy Akerman; and numerous other relatives and friends.
