Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, January 25, 2025, at the Wadley’s Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Lexington Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
James was born October 30, 1942, in Purcell, OK to Ray E. and Ella C. (Dumas) Gullion. He spent his formative years in Purcell, where he graduated from Purcell High School in 1961. On May 12, 1962, James embarked on a beautiful journey of love and companionship when he married his beloved wife, Charlotte Walker, in their hometown. Together, they nurtured a warm and loving household, raising their three children: Christine, Lisa, and Ben. James dedicated a substantial part of his life to his work at Hi-Test, where he skillfully rebuilt machines for many years. Beyond his professional commitments, he had a profound appreciation for the great outdoors, finding joy in fishing and hunting. Yet, it was the meticulous care of his lawn that truly captivated him, reflecting his passion for cultivating beauty around him. His love for nature extended to his garden, where he nurtured vibrant roses and engaged in the art of woodworking, creating various items and tinkering in his garage with undying enthusiasm. A man of great heart, James took particular joy in helping others, often assisting widows with home repairs and sharing kindness with those in need. He regularly delivered donated clothes to the Jesus House, where he enjoyed connecting with the residents, offering warmth and camaraderie. Though his talents and passions were many, such as his love for music and playing the guitar with friends, the greatest joy in James's life came from the time he shared with Charlotte and their family. His legacy endures not only through the memories shared by his loved ones but also in the kindness he imparted to all who crossed his path. James Gullion will be remembered not only for his unwavering love and devotion but also for the light he brought into the lives of those fortunate enough to know him.
