Herbert Peter Weidman died May 7, 2017 in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 88 Years 7 Months 16 Days. Funeral Services are scheduled for 1:00 PM, Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Johnson Road Baptist Church with Rev. Wayne Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Lexington Cemetery entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
Herb was born September 22, 1928 in Franklin, Massachusetts to Herbert and Mary (Thibodeau) Weidman. He was raised and attended school in Franklin, Massachusetts. Herb was inducted into the United States Marine Corps on October 11, 1945, proudly serving his country until being honorably discharged. On August 24, 1962, Herb married Thelma Archer in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They made Purcell their home and were members of Johnson Road Baptist Church. Herb worked many years for General Motors and retired in 1993. He loved his church, especially church get togethers. Herb enjoyed Bingo, reading, square dancing, and bowling. He worked crossword puzzles, and enjoyed morning coffee with his friends. Herb loved sports, especially watching the Red Sox and the OU Sooners. He coached baseball and softball when his grandkids were younger, and enjoyed spending time and taking care of his family. Herb also liked to drive his sports cars.
Herb is preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Mary Weidman; wife, Thelma Weidman; daughter, Elizabeth Jones; siblings, Claire, Donald and George. Survivors include his son, Mark Weidman and wife, Kathy of Norman; daughters, Sandra Mayo and husband, James of Norman, Robin Hammonds and husband, Larry of Purcell, Tracy Weidman of Purcell; the other son, Mark Brown of Washington; grandchildren, JJ and Trinity Jones, Josh and Tiffany Jones, Jacob Jones, Jamie and Stephanie Mayo, Casey and Tony Fredrick, Jeffery Weidman, Calin and Sydney Weidman, Matt and Mandi Hammonds, Lindsay Hammonds, Sara Hammonds, Trey Rogez, Emily Rogez; 11 great grandchildren; siblings, Harold and Margie Weidman, Bob and Mary Ellen Weidman; and many other relatives and friends.
