Gayla Maria Barton

     Gayla Maria Barton died February 20, 2023, in Lexington at the age of 66 years 9 months 14 days.  Memorial Services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, Friday, February 24, 2023, at Wadley’s Funeral Chapel, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.

     Gayla was born May 6, 1956, in Norman, Oklahoma to SD and Evelyn (Upton) Womack.  She was raised in Norman until the 6th grade.  The family moved to Del City where Gayla finished her schooling, graduating from Del City High School in 1974.  She married Billy C. Barton Jr on March 21, 1975.  Gayla became an LPN, working at Purcell Municipal Hospital for 20 years, Pauls Valley Hospital for 12 years, and Sunset Estates.  She enjoyed sewing, shopping and raising her family.  Gayla loved spending any chance she could with her family, especially her grandchildren.  

     Gayla is preceded in death by her parents, SD and Evelyn Womack; and her husband of 32 years, Billy Barton.  Survivors include her daughter, Angie Barton; her son, Brad Barton; her son, Josh Barton; her daughter, Cori Pounds; and her son, Billy Barton III; her 8 grandchildren, Thomas and Hunter Frye, Conner Barton, Alexis Pounds, Johncalvin Bowen, Derrick Bowen, Braiden Barton, Blaiklyn Barton; her 2 great grandsons, Theodore and Jackson; her brother, Jerry Womack; numerous other relatives and friends.
