Edna Mae Slate died January 11, 2018 in Midwest City, Oklahoma at the age of 77 years 4 months 12 days. Services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Monday January 15, 2018 at Wadley’s Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Norman IOOF Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
Mae was born August 30, 1940 in Holdenville, Oklahoma to Andrew Jackson and Nettie Jeanette (Brown) Quick. At the age of 3, the family moved to Midwest City, Oklahoma where Mae attended school. On April 3, 1958, she married Kenneth Slate, Sr., in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They made their home in the Lexington area. Mae enjoyed sewing, gambling, cooking and shopping, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
Mae is preceded in death by her parents, Andrew and Nettie Quick; her brothers, Tom Quick and Cecil Quick; her sisters, Kathryn Rice and Opal Dunn. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth Slate, Sr.; her daughters, Darleen Branson of Oklahoma City, and Myra Slate of Edmond; her son, Kenneth D. Slate, Jr. of Midwest City; grandchildren, Christi Markham and spouse, Derek Cowan, Carrie Maloney and spouse, Toby, Jennifer Roberts, Christopher Roberts, Chelsea Hargrove, Blain DeCastro, Amber Markham, Victoria Markham, Mia Markham, Kaylee Branson; great-grandchildren, Kaleb, Kyler, Caden, Clyde, Braxton, Madilynn, Bryce, Grayson, Jacquelyn, Josephine, Zane and Quinn; sisters, Joyce Dial, Marie Bredwell and spouse, Barnie; and many other relatives and friends.
