Donnie E Wilson

     Donnie E. Wilson departed this earth peacefully surrounded by family and friends, June 17, 2023, in Mustang, Oklahoma at the age of 69 years 6 months. Celebration of Life Services were held at The Boom and Tramps Bars in Oklahoma City.  A Graveside Memorial Service will be held 3:00 PM, Saturday, June 1, 2024, at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon, Oklahoma, where Donnie will be laid to rest.  Entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.

     Donnie was born December 17, 1953, in Guymon, Oklahoma to Delbert D. and Erline Laverne (Costner) Wilson.  He graduated from Gruver High School in Gruver, Texas in 1972, and continued his education at the Abilene Christian College.  Donnie married Valerie Smith on February 2, 1979, and together had 2 handsome sons, Matthew Don and Marshall Cody.  Donnie worked many years in the music industry as a sales representative, and even earned multiple gold, platinum and silver albums for being the top salesperson in his district.   Later Donnie volunteered with Other Options in Oklahoma City and worked as a greeter and coordinator at the Boom.  He had a natural charisma and a personality full of compassion and respect to make friends no matter the situation.  Donnie loved being in others' company, whether it was having coffee, going to thrift stores and garage sales, or telling his hilarious stories.  He always strived to make a positive influence on the Oklahoma City community and did it whether dressing top-notch at The Boom; or spending hours picking up trash. Ultimately Donnie was a selfless man whose primary focus was providing for his family and children to have the best lives possible while pushing his own worries aside. Donnie had a giving heart, and loved to help others whenever he could.  Donnie took it upon himself to make sure the 39th Street District was clean of trash, had flowers blooming in flowerpots, and everyone was greeted with a smile. At 11:00 AM, on the day before Father’s Day, Donnie’s stunning presence and buoyant spirit were welcomed into heavens gates.    

     Donnie is preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Erline Wilson; his sister, DeVonna Harris; his 2 brothers, Leon Wilson and Gary Wilson; and his nephew, Billy Harris.  Survivors include his sons, Matthew Wilson and Cody Wilson; his nieces, Cheryl Gross, Bonnie Hunt, Layne Wilson and Cassie Wilson; his nephews, Chad Wilson and Reid Wilson; the mother of his sons, Valerie Rainbolt; his close cousin, Todd Owen; and numerous other relatives and friends.
