Cynthia Raney

Cynthia Maurine Raney died June 4, 2022, in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 67 years 1 month 12 days.  Memorial Services are scheduled for 1:00 PM, Saturday, June 25, 2022, at the Wadley’s Funeral Chapel, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.

Cynthia was born April 23, 1955, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to John Wesley and Maurine Elizabeth (Furlong) York.  She was raised in Norman, graduating from Norman Central High in 1973.  On December 16, 1971, she married Walter Richard Raney in Norman, where they made their home.  Cynthia worked in the warehouse at United Design for many years.  She also worked at the elementary school as the lunch lady for years.  Cynthia enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles, watching Survivor and spending time at the pool.  She like to play scrabble, Yahtzee, and board games.  Cynthia loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.  She was an amazing cook and made the best potato salad.  Children brought her joy, and when celebrating birthdays, holidays, and any occasion, she made it special for the kids.

Cynthia is preceded in death by her parents, John and Maurine York; her siblings, John York, Laverne Gobbs, Beth McVicker, Timothy York, Steven York, Paul York; and her brother-in-law, Reas Dunn.  Survivors include her husband, Richard Raney; her son, Richard Paul Raney; her son, Jeremy Dell Raney and wife, Heather; her grandchildren, Cierra Edwards, Christian Edwards, Reagan Raney; her great grandchild, Haven Edwards; her siblings, Richard York and wife, Suzanne, Kathy Dunn, Mary Dughi and husband, Tony, June Eddington; and numerous other relatives and friends.
