Christie McAfee

Christie Lea McAfee died December 5, 2021, in Norman, Oklahoma at the age of 47 years 4 months 19 days.  A Memorial gathering will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, December 13, 2021 at Wadley’s Funeral Chapel, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.

Christie was born July 17, 1974 in Norman, Oklahoma to Delbert Leon and Shirley (Dover) Thompson.  She was raised in Purcell, graduating from Purcell High School in 1992.  Christie continued her education later in life, taking online courses through the University of Phoenix.  She was a trivia “nerd”, and loved the Boston Celtics, Tennessee Vols Basketball, and OU Softball.  Christie was a loving mother, encouraging her children in every activity they were involved in.  She loved her dog, Peylyn or “Paypay”, and thought Larry Byrd was the only player in the NBA.  Christie enjoyed a good “no sauce” pizza from Jo’s, Hostess chocolate cupcakes and Dr. Pepper.  She enjoyed John Wayne movies, and listening to anything from the bands, Styx or Fleetwood Mac.  Christie was an artist, and loved sketching and doodling, especially Garfield the cartoon cat.

Christie is preceded in death by her father, Delbert Leon Thompson.

Survivors include her mother, Shirley McGee and husband, Steve Williams of Norman; her sons, Jacob McAfee of Norman, Josh McAfee of Illinois; her significant other, Jennifer Smith of Purcell; her sisters, Stephanie Whitaker and husband, CJ of Purcell, Shannon Thompson Stewart of Noble, Jennifer Thompson of Noble; and numerous other relatives and friends.
