Chaz Michael Belongie passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on October 13, 2023, in Lexington. Funeral services are scheduled for 10 AM, Thursday, October 19, 2023, at Wadley’s Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Lexington Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
Chaz was born on August 30, 1989, in Spokane, WA. Before Chaz and his siblings were adopted by his grandpa and grandma Boomer, a lot of brethren and family members took him in. He was baptized in June of 2002, by Brother David Linder into the General Assembly and Church of the Firstborn. Chaz was the oldest of 5 kids often helping to take care of his siblings, which he was very protective. He worked from a young age with his Uncle David doing tree work and often talked about living with his Uncle David and Aunt Colette. Chaz also stayed with his Uncle Eric for a time and Chaz and Dusty would get into loads of trouble. He loved being alone from a young age, and when they would have family events, he would go off by himself. In spite of his rough start in life, Chaz grew up to be a good man. When Chaz was forced to move to Purcell, he decided he would never leave, because he met the love of his life. He married Blossom Manues on September 10, 2010, in Purcell, OK. Chaz worked at B&H for eight years before working as an ONG gas inspector for the last five years of his life. He had promised his father-in-law that he would always support Blossom and he kept that promise. Chaz had a passion for creating beautiful, handmade knives, and well as spending time camping. While camping, Chaz and his Uncle Eric were always the ones cooking for everyone. He loved fishing and going on the boat and kayak. Chaz took every chance he could get to play with his nephews and nieces. One of his favorite things to do was make them laugh by growling like Chewbacca. While he didn’t have living children, he was loved by many as an uncle. He took many kids fishing and took them under his wing when they didn’t have fathers themselves. Chaz was a man of few words that kept to himself, but the ones who knew him, loved him dearly. He had a big heart. After he had been making knives for a few years, he tried to help other knife makers by sending them kits to help them get started. He helped a lot of people, but he always did most of his helping where only the ones he helped knew about it. Through his trial, he kept his integrity with God until his dying breath, and he will be missed by all.
Chaz is preceded in death by his three sons, Jack Port, Jeremiah Job, and Earnest Lee; his father-in-law, Edward Lee Manues; and his grandparents, Ernest and Charlene Boomer.
