Carla Ladawn Whisenant died September 14, 2022, in Purcell, Oklahoma at the age of 51 years 10 months 8 days. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:00 AM, Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at Wadley’s Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Lexington Cemetery, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
Carla was born November 6, 1970, in Grand Junction, Colorado to Carl Joseph and Donna Rae (Morris) Marcil. She was raised in Colorado, graduating school around 1988. On November 15, 1988, she married Donnie Conner, celebrating over 21 years together before he passed in 2009. In 1993, Carla was baptized into the General Assembly and Church of the First Born by Brother Bill Fowler. On August 10, 2012, she married Keith Whisenant in Indiana. Carla enjoyed cooking and fellowship with the brethren. She loved sewing, crocheting, and anything crafts related. Her children would often joke with her, telling her she could turn anything into a quilt. Her mind raced with ideas of crafts and DIY projects, often spending countless hours on projects. Carla was addicted to homemade soaps, getting excited when new soaps came in the mail. She had a great love for God and her family and loved telling her kids stories of God’s mercies and miracles when she was a little girl. Carla took inspiration from her grandparents and their unending support, to live in the faith. She hoped to be like her grandmother, and be the example to her children and grandchildren, that her grandmother was to her. Carla loved to travel, and the idea of the ocean and being around people and enjoyed hearing the wonderful stories of the faith. She loved spending time with her family and going on family outings, like flying kites with her children. Carla would have been content in living in a tiny home with all of her family together. She loved to provide for her family and did everything she could to meet their needs. Christmas was her favorite holiday, decorating her tree in October or sooner. Carla remained steadfast in her faith, even when the adversary was fighting her twenty-four seven, she still clung to God and family.
Carla is preceded in death by her mother, Donna Marcil; her first husband, Donnie Conner; and 2 infant sons, Elijah and Elisha. Survivors include her father, Carl Marcil; her husband, Keith Whisenant; her children, Travis, Tosha, Isaac, Noah, Carlie, Silas, Salah; her grandchildren, Emmalyn, Paisley, Lucas, Elijah, Triton, Dominic; her siblings, Darrell Dwyer and wife, Robin, Darren Dwyer and wife, Candy, Jerina Villanveva; and numerous other relatives and friends.
