Amanda Jean Burford died March 28, 2024, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 58 years 3 months 13 days. Memorial Services are scheduled for 3:00 PM, Saturday, April 13, 2024, at the Wadley’s Funeral Chapel, entrusted to the care of Wadley’s Funeral Service.
Amanda was born December 15, 1965, in East Saint Louis, Illinois to Norman and Carol (Nicholson) Marlowe. She was raised in Oklahoma City, attending Southeast High School. Her journey led her to City College, where she pursued a path in Office Administration. May 8, 1981, marked the union of Amanda and Gregory Cater in Gainsville, Texas. Together they walked a shared path for 25 years until the sorrowful departure of Greg in 2006. Amanda's days were adorned with a career as a waitress, where her warm demeanor touched many hearts. Music echoed in her soul, bringing joy to her days. The embrace of nature was Amanda's solace - the lake whispering serenity, the sun bathing her with warmth, the waters inviting her for a swim, and camping under the stars brought her peace. In Lola, her faithful dog, she found unwavering companionship. However, amidst all these passions and pursuits, it was family that truly illuminated Amanda's life. A devoted grandmother cherishing every moment with her grandchildren, she found solace in their laughter and innocence. Amanda’s prayers extended beyond words - a testament to her boundless love for all whom she held dear.
Amanda is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Carol Marlowe; her husband, Gregory Cater; her son, Cody Lee Cater; and her brother, Donald Wayne Marlowe. Survivors include her son, Greg Jr. and wife, Kara; her daughter, Brandy Cater; her grandchildren, Kadee, Alyssa, Joseph, Gregory and Gavyn; her siblings, Beverly Cunha and husband, Tom, Donna Brown, and Norman Marlowe II; her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Cater; her nieces and nephews, Chelsea Cunha, Michael Cunha, Brenda Palmer, and Noah Brown; and numerous other relatives and friends.
